FASTer Way to Fat Loss :: I’m back at it!

It’s a new year and I am excited to be back in the FASTer Way to Fat Loss lifestyle! After taking a hiatus for a couple years, I am thrilled to be re-starting and re-setting with the FWTFL. I can attest the program is better than ever, and am excited to tell you about it!

If you have followed me for a few years, you probably remember that I did FASTer Way to Fat Loss from 2017-2020. Some seasons I was more disciplined about it than others, but this was the lifestyle of intermittent fasting, carb-cycling and macro-tracking that became like second nature. Through all the craziness of 2020, covid, school-shut downs + my dad passing suddenly, I fell off the band-wagon and frankly wanted to switch things up. I took a break from fasting and macro-tracking, tried my best to “eat clean,” did a LOT of cardio via walking and tennis, yet put on a significant of weight.

By 2022, I was feeling not like myself at all. I felt sluggish, overweight and didn’t like the way my clothes fit. My functional medicine team was trying out a
“new” weight-loss medication and asked if I would want to test it out. I said YES! I started semiglutide injections in mid-September 2022 and lost 22 pounds by January 2023. I finally felt back to myself weight-wise… and was the lowest weight I had been in YEARS! It felt GREAT!

I have been very open with my followers on Instagram about this weight-loss journey, and honestly have nothing but great things to say about semiglutide. For me, it was a mental game-changer to be able to lose stubborn weight fairly quickly {and easily} and to reset my mind/eating habits. I quickly realized how much I was over-eating before, and how I could be satisfied with less. {For clarity, I was on semiglutide for 4 months, and stopped he first week of January 2023. I was completely off it for four months, and then have taken a tiny “maintenance” dose {.25} 1-2 x a month since. I have not had an injection since starting the FWTFL.}

This year, I have been able to keep nearly all that weight off BUT have struggled to find consistency in fueling my body with the best energy-giving, muscle-building foods. It’s no surprise that I lost muscle in the process of losing so much weight, and I also struggled to get as toned as I would like, now that some extra pounds are off. I have realized that, though I am eating less than before I started semiglutide, I am not eating enough protein by any means! I also have felt like I am floundering a bit with a workout plan.

After eating and drinking basically whatever I wanted between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I realized I needed a reset! I needed a plan as I stepped into the new year, and one that would help me be intentional with my eating and workouts, while also providing flexibility!

Right as I was contemplating a health and fitness plan for 2024, the FWTFL got my attention again through many friends raving about how the new app. This app wasn’t available when I was doing the FWTFL in year’s past and makes following the Faster Way nearly fool-proof. Once I realized that I could get daily workouts {for use at the gym or home}, meal ideas, macro-tracking, water-tracking and accountability at my finger-tips, I was IN! For my busy life, accessibility, flexibility and being able to do meal-prep + workouts quickly and efficiently are musts. The FWTFL and it’s app offer all that.

I am currently week 3 of my 6 week FWTFL session, and am already feeling so.much.better. Less bloated, stronger both mentally and physically, and encouraged to have a plan. My goals are to become stronger, leaner through more toned muscle, lose 3-5 pounds {I gained 5 lbs total from January 2022-2023, probably mostly after the holidays since I weighed myself on January 1!} and also help balance my hormones. I am already seeing how intentional I need to be about my protein intake {hitting 100 grams a day takes thought!} and also am feeling so good being back into the intermittent fasting groove. I am excited to share this journey with you over the next weeks and months, both here and on Instagram.
