I’ve recently been experimenting with layering similar tones and colors together, and I am really loving the look. It’s easiest to do by simply layering a necklace, blazer or cardigan over a top that is a similar to slightly contrasting color. You’ll see in these pics how I layered a turquoise bauble necklace over a striped turquoise peplum top. The necklace is a slightly deeper color than the top, which makes for a hint of contrast.
Some colors to try wearing “tone on tone” :: bright coral with orange, hot pink a paler pink, cobalt blue with navy, and bright yellow with a lighter yellow. Tone on tone also looks classic when layering neutral shades like whites, ivories and taupes. And, remember that you can create this look with patterned pieces {think florals, stripes, checks and dots} just as easily as with solids.
