My on-the-go Protein Hacks + FWTFL update

I just wrapped up my first round {6 weeks} back in the FASTer Way to Fat Loss and I am feeling GREAT!

Physically, I am feeling stronger, leaner, more energy + less bloated. Mentally, I feel more disciplined and in control of my health, diet and fitness routine. In addition to all these, the FASTer Way to Fat Loss is saving me time each day with with its 30 minute super effective and super efficient workouts, that I can do from home or gym. I am always challenged by the workouts, love that are different every single day {available via the FASTer Way app} and I am continually shocked that I can feel so sore from just 30 minutes or less of work!

Although my focus this season being back in the FASTER Way is primarily on building muscle and toning up {versus losing pounds}, I am happy to report I have lost 2 pounds and 6 inches in the past 6 weeks! I am realizing that if I am concentrating on muscle-gain, the scale probably won’t move down a tone but my inches hopefully will!

Check out this blog post from last month if you are curious to learn more about my weight loss journey and why I jumped back into the FASTer Way in January.

A new round starts next Monday, February 26, if you are interested in jumping in! I will be continuing the program, and will be sharing my journey ongoing.

One of my biggest goals over the past 6 weeks has been to hit at least 100 grams of protein a day. My exact goal, based on my weight + the goals I inputted in to the FASTer Way app is 115g/day, but hitting 100g has been my primary focus this first round. I have quickly realized how little protein I was actually getting most days pre-January, despite my overall healthy diet and lifestyle.

Getting this much protein takes intentionality and I am slowly learning a few easy snacks that I can carry with me/grab on the go each day that are significantly helping me meet my daily goal.

My on-the-go protein hacks

  1. Fairlife CorePower Elite 42g Complete Protein Shake. 42 grams of protein. The Strawberry flavor is my new obsession. Tastes like a strawberry milkshake and packs almost half my protein goal each day. I love serving in a pretty glass over ice as an afternoon treat!
  2. Quest Protein Chips. 20 grams protein. I keep these in my car and also at home for a quick protein-filled snack when I am craving something salty. The Chili Lime flavor is my fav. For an extra treat {when enjoying at home}, whip up some cottage cheese and taco seasoning in a food processor and dip! More protein + so delish!
  3. The New Primal Meat Sticks. 7 grams of protein. These are also something I keep in my car and tote bag for a quick on the go snack. Love that these have zero sugar and taste great. My kids like them, too. The Peppered Turkey is my fav.
  4. Starbucks + Dunkin Donuts Egg Bites. 11-19 grams of protein, depending on the flavor. I love both! These are my go-to protein-rich snacks while traveling. Note that the egg white bites have less protein than the regular egg bites. You can also buy the Starbucks Egg Bites at Costco!
  5. Chick-fil-A Chicken Nuggets. 28 grams of protein in an 8 count and 41 grams in a 12 count. I love being on a nutrition plan that I can incorporate fried chicken nuggets to help hit my goals!! These are super satisfying and also make a super-easy lunch or dinner. I will often pair with the kale salad on low-carb days or a fruit cup on regular macro days.
  6. Breakstone’s Cottage Cheese Doubles. 12 grams of protein. I mix in the smallest amount of fruit to give it just a tad of flavor, without all the sugar. Peach is my fav.
  7. Justin’s Classic Almond Butter Packets. 6 grams of protein. I order these packets on Amazon and love to keep them in my tote for errands/travel. Obviously not a huge amount of protein but great for when I am feeling “snacky” and easy to add to apple slices.
  8. Green Compass Collagen. 8 grams of protein. I add a scoop of this super clean + yummy tasting collagen to my water each day. In addition to skin, hair and joint benefits, one scoop packs in 8 grams of protein. I just make sure I don’t drink each day until I break my fast. This also tastes refreshing mixed into lime bubbly water as a mocktail!
