lauren & sherri do denim!

Lauren and Sherri joined forces back in the mall together last weekend, this time on the hunt for some great denim for Fall!
We choose two stores famous for their denim and jeans :: the Gap and Madewell.

{For details on what we each wore shopping, pictured above, see the end of the post!}

We were eager to try the Gap’s “revamped” denim collection, by new designer Rebekka Bay. And we were both excited to explore the “denim bar” inside of Madewell, a J.Crew brand, known for its denim.

We started Saturday’s shopping adventure at the Gap, where we selected and tried on jeans in our own dressing rooms and then compared notes…

Gap 1969 Destroyed Sexy Boyfriend Jeans.

Lauren :: I love the wash and destruction of these “Sexy Boyfriend Jeans.” I wish that the denim material was a tad stretchier for comfort, but I think the overall fit is cute and that this is a good pair for the price point, especially if you can score them when Gap is doing one of its fantastic online sales!

Sherri :: First of all, can we get an amen and hallelujah for the dressing rooms at Gap?  Y’all.  The lighting is fantastic, and you can drop 5 lbs just by looking in the mirror.  I pretty much plan to either A) move into one of them, or B) go there to try on random bathing suits from other stores.

That won’t be weird.

Anyway, these Sexy Boyfriend Jeans are a great price, and super flattering.  I agree with Lauren that I would have liked a tad more stretch.  But overall, they were pretty fantastic.

Gap 1969 Legging Jeans

Lauren :: These Gap Legging Jeans are SO comfy, stretchy and absolutely perfect for tucking into boots. They were my hands-down favorite Gap jean that I tried, and I love that these come in several different wash. I took this pair home with me, since this lighter is different than anything that I own.

 Sherri :: Please ignore my creeper smile, and let’s just focus on the jeans.  The Gap Legging Jean was my favorite of the day!  Lauren and I assumed that we would have different favorites, since we have different body types.  BUT, the fact that we both loved (and went home with) these jeans should tell you that they. are. solid.

We didn’t actually try these on, but the Gap Long & Lean Jean is a tried and true, flattering for EVERY body type, friendly on your wallet, kind of option.  And we didn’t NEED to try them on, because I love mine so much, that I have already proposed marriage to them.

What?

Next, we moved on to Madewell, to peruse their well-stocked denim bar ::

Madewell Skinny Skinny Zip Racetrack Jeans in Coated Black.

Lauren :: These coated Racetrack Jeans were my favorite find of the day. And now they are at the very top of my Fall “wardrobe wish list.” These are super comfortable and I love how they can be dressed up or down. I’m so glad the in-store stylist told us to size up in these pants, because she was so right! I couldn’t even get my regular size up my legs, but the next size fit perfectly!

Sherri :: I’m going to be honest; these weren’t my favorite.  Mainly because they aren’t super flattering for curvy legs.  I love the style though, especially the “moto” detail at the knee.

Madewell Skinny Skinny Zip Jeans.

Lauren :: Love the zipper detail of these Skinny Skinny Zip Jeans! These are an ideal pair for wearing with flats or heels, so that the zipper can be shown off. We each tried on a different wash, and we both much preferred the darker Edgewater wash that Sherri wore.

Sherri :: Ditto what Lauren said.  The zipper is my favorite part, and it’s super on-trend.  Love!

Lauren :: Madewell’s Slim Boy Jeans {in Rip and Repair Edition wash} are so seriously so comfy that they feel like pajamas. These are some of the most comfortable jeans I have ever tried on, and I highly recommend them if you are in the market for boyfriend jeans. {Which you should be if you don’t own a pair!}

Sherri :: Y’all know I love a good slim boyfriend….JEAN, that is.  (I promise I don’t have a boyfriend, John.)  These are the non-destructed version of what Lauren is wearing. I agree that they were super comfortable, and can easily be dressed up by throwing on some heels or cute booties.

Skinny boyfriends for everyone!

(Simmer down, husbands. You know what I mean.)

Lauren :: These Alley Straight Jeans were my Madewell blue denim favorite of the day. These jeans have the perfect rise for us moms, and the leg is super flattering. I think these would look super cute cuffed at the bottom, and envision these being a go-to favorite for every wardrobe. If you need a pair of super-flattering, everyday jeans, look no further!

Sherri :: The Edit girls love a classic straight leg jean, because it’s so universally flattering. This will definitely be my new recommendation for clients who need denim.  The rise banishes muffin-top issues, and this wash is ultra slimming.  Win-win.

Last but not least, here are the details of the outfits we each wore to the mall on Saturday, in case you want to know ::
