A question I am often asked by my wardrobe styling clients is :: “Can I wear brown and black together?!”

The answer is an overwhelming YES!

Brown and black is one of my favorite color combos for Fall and Winter, because it’s classic, chic and yet unexpected.

Three tips on how to pull off wearing brown and black like a pro ::

1. It helps to wear at least two items of the same color. In other words, select two black items to pair with something brown or two brown items to pair with something black. Of course, the more of each tone, the better, like I am wearing here.

2. An exception to this rule is that a black top/sweater paired with blue jeans and a brown bootie or boot always looks classy.

3. Try to mix similar brown hues. I prefer a cognac/whiskey color brown, like the shade I am wearing here, or taupey-browns with black.

If you don’t own a pair of black jeans, I highly recommend adding a pair to your wardrobe. I honestly didn’t own a pair that I loved until last year and couldn’t believe how much I wore them!

I just invested in the Frame Denim pair I am wearing here and I couldn’t love them more. If you are looking for an extremely flattering pair, these are worth the investment…and they also come in a not-so-ripped version! {My sister in law turned me on to Frame Denim over Thanksgiving and I am not sure I’ll ever purchase another brand of jeans! I also own this pair and they really are amazing!}
