Five Types of Sunglasses to Own and Love

One of the most requested blog post topics lately has been one dedicated SUNGLASSES!

So, here it is :: a post all about my very favorite sunglasses.

I’m a sunglasses fanatic at heart, and own well over 25 pairs. I have a mix of designer and “cheap” sunglasses, and honestly love them all! I think sunglasses are one of the easiest ways to change up your look on an everyday basis, especially during Spring/Summer months and when vacationing.

Here are my top 5 types of sunglasses to own + tips on styling each frame ::

1. The Versatile Aviator Frame. The aviator is quite possibly the most universal style of sunglasses. If you don’t own a pair of aviators you love, this is where you need to start!

You cannot go wrong with a pair of classic Raybans. I have owned this oversized pair of Rayban Aviators {wearing above} for over 8 years now, and they are still going strong!

In the past year, I have added this pair by Sonix {I love the tortoise shell detail}, pictured below, and this funky mirrored pair by Quay, pictured above. Quay, by the way, is my absolute favorite brand of inexpensive sunglasses. The styling and quality is amazing for the price!

Another thing I love about an aviator is that they can look sporty and fit well under ball caps as well as straw hats for casual days and beach days!

2. The Chic Black Frame. A chic pair of black plastic framed sunnies is a classic accessory. I love that black frames look good on every skin tone and hair color and instantly add a pop of “glam” and even mystique to any outfit! While I certainly wear black frames casually, they are usually what I reach for with a dressier outfit! The affordable $55 pair by Quay I am wearing above is a current favorite and dress up or down.

3. The Classic Tortoise Frame. An oversized tortoise frame is always timeless and classic. I purchased this pair of Karen Walker’s years ago and they continue to be one of my most worn pairs of sunnies since they go with just about everything! There are many shades of tortoise shell, so be sure to find the coloring that works best for your skin and hair color. I find that blondes typically look great in a true brown tortoise while darker brunettes look fab in a gray-toned tortoise.

4. The Retro White Frame. White sunglasses are the epitome of a carefree, summer vibe. I recently found this $38 pair at Anthropologie and have been wearing them with so much! I love pairing my white sunnies with bright colors as well as anytime I wear my white jeans. To me, a pair white sunglass is a pair to save on, since they are trendy and casual.

5. The Trendy Blush Frame. Speaking of trendy, if you are a fashionista that likes to keep up with the current trends, add a pair of blush sunnies to your wardrobe this season! Blush sunnies look fabulous paired with whites, black or other pastels. They are the least “versatile” of these five types of sunnies, but still fun and totally worth snagging at a good price!
