One of my favorite southern girl expressions is “bless your heart”. For those of you not from the South, I’ll let you in on a little secret – It has a double meaning.
What? Yes, friends. It’s not always a term of endearment. Quite the opposite, in fact. If you are ever caught in a story with a “bless your (or her) heart”, pray it was because you were bedridden with the flu. You never want to be on the receiving end of a “bless your heart” because you came out of the bathroom with your dress hem tucked up in your underwear.
If you are female, more than likely you have uttered this phrase sincerely and not so sincerely. When my friends over at Leona shared their new line of graphic tees, I had to have one.
