One of the greatest blessings in my life is that I call my mom my best friend. My mom is one of my heroes, a woman I look up to and aspire to be more and more like as I grow older and raise my own children.

As long as I can remember, my favorite "mom/daughter date" is a shopping trip and nice lunch out. I have the fondest memories of fun shopping dates all the way back to middle and high school. My mom even let me skip school on my birthday during high school for a fun day out on the town with her!

Now that I have my own children, these dates between my mom and I are further and fewer between, but always just as fun and special.

In honor of Mother's Day, I've teamed up with Sole Society to take my beloved mama on a fun shopping and lunch date, accessorized in the cutest new shoes, bags and jewelry....all by Sole Society, of course!

We started our day with blow outs from Drybar, shopped around one of my favorite places in Atlanta, Avalon, and then enjoyed a lovely patio lunch at Cru.

My mom is sporting Sole Society's neutral Paulina sandals, paired with the cutest striped tote, the Rooney! {This tote also comes in a classy black and white stripe.} These are the perfect go-with-anything accessories to compliment any colorful outfit.  I love her bright Sole Society tassel earrings, too!

Each of our shoes, bags and accessories are under-$100 and make amazing Mother's Day presents! I love that accessories are a gift that can fit any woman, regardless of shape, style or age. Plus, a woman simply cannot have too many shoes or handbags, right?!

Here are some other favorites from the newest Sole Society collection ::

Last but not least, here are five things I have learned from my mom, that I hope to pass on to my own children ::

1. Encouragement and positivity. My mom is one of the most optimistic people I know. It never fails to amaze me how she sees the "glass half full," even when life has thrown curve balls her way. She radiates life, light and joy to all those around her, and being around her challenges me to do the same.

2. The art of celebration. One of my favorite things about my mom is her love of celebrating life and all occasions, both big or small. She has the incredible ability of making even the smallest moments special and memorable. I grew up loving the holiday and birthday traditions my mom created for our family, and cherish them even more now that I am a mom myself. There is nothing sweeter than traditions and celebrations as a child, and I am so thankful my mom has established so many for both me and my children.

3. Gratitude. My mom is quick to be thankful, which is a rare trait these days! Whenever I am down, she is quick to point out all we have to be grateful for, and encourages me count my blessings.

4. Faith. My mom's great faith has kept her standing through some incredibly trying times. I love that she puts her faith first, and relies on it to give her supernatural strength. She has created a legacy of faith that will passed down to future generations.

5. Generousity and compassion. In a world where most simply look out for themselves and their own well-being, my mom is constantly looking for how she can bless others. She is one of the most generous people I know, and gives freely of her time and resources to both her family and to those around her. I am always touched by her ability to love and befriend people who are different than her, and how she shows grace and compassion to the world around her.

Cheers to my amazing mama, and to all you lovely, hard-working moms!

Happy Mother's Day!

Stylishly yours,

1. This white top. In my opinion, a white top + denim shorts is the perfect weekend uniform, and this $39 one-shoulder top is such an easy piece to throw on to look stylish yet stay comfy! I paired it last weekend with my favorite cut-offs, and these turquoise statement earrings that I can't stop wearing with everything!

2. These wedges. These gorgeous wedge sandals are hands-down one of the best Spring/Summer shoe purchases I have EVER made. They are comfortable and literally go with everything from jeans to dresses to shorts. I cannot say enough good things about them. They are a slight-spurge but worth every penny!

3. This book. Author Jody Bennett Reichel is a dear family friend that has known me since I was a little girl. Her new book, Still Before The Dawn, is an absolutely beautiful book, full of truth and encouragement. I keep this book on my nightstand, and love picking it up whenever I need a dose of truth, faith and hope! The illustrations are gorgeous, and this book makes a lovely Mother's Day present. Also, these adorable pajamas are super soft and a perfect summer weight! They would make a great pairing with this book for a fun Mother's Day Gift idea!

Stylishly yours,

All about Undergarments

AccessoriesLauren1 Comment

I am often asked about my favorite bras and undergarments, so I decided to dedicate a blog post to my "go-to, can't-live-without" functional lingerie!

Here are the pieces I wear in constant rotation ::

There are three essential types of bras for everyday wear :: a tee-shirt bra, a strapless bra and a racerback bra. I find myself wearing my strapless and racerback bras more often during Spring/Summer since I wear so many off-the-shoulder tops and tank tops in warm weather.

My favorite everyday bras are this one by Panache and this one by Chantelle. Both of these give great lift, support and shape and look smooth under just about everything! I recommend having at least a nude and a black everyday bra. For those of you smaller chested ladies, Chantelle also makes a gorgeous Demi Bra that I have also tried and love.

My favorite strapless bra is the Wacoal Red Carpet Convertible Bra. It gives shape and stays in place, even on larger chests!

As far as racerback bras go, I love this affordable one by Wacoal. Racerbacks are so nice to wear with tank tops and sleeveless blouses since you don't have to worry about seeing bra straps!

A bralette is a layering essential. It's perfect to wear under dresses and tops that are low-backed or backless as well as low-cut. If you are small chested, you can most-likely get away wearing a bralet alone. If you are busty like me, I recommend owning a few bralettes to layer over your bra. I personally wear mine to cover my bra straps. I recommend having at least two bralettes :: one black and one in either white or ivory. Free People makes a ton of styles, including bandeau {my personal fav} racerback and halter.

I personally only wear thong-style panties, and Hanky Panky's are my favorite. In my opinion, they are worth the investment since they hold up well and give a seamless look under just about anything. I highly recommend purchasing the majority of your underwear in nude, especially for summer, since it's the most sheer under white.

For those of you not familiar with Hanky Panky panties, there is the original cut, low-rise {my preference} and boy shorts.

Having properly fitting sports bras is so important for giving support and shape during workouts. I recently invested in this one by Chantelle which is not the sexiest-looking bra, but it really gives great shape under tanks and tees for those of you who are busty like me.

I also love Zella sports bras and discovered this pretty cross-back bra at Athleta today that I snagged in both black and hot pink!

Last but not least, if you don't own a Lingerie Wash Bag, I highly recommend this $14 one. I have used this one for years and it truly makes a difference it keeping your bras and panties...and even great condition as you launder them!
