A friend from college, Ashley, recently posted picture on Instagram of a cool key necklace her husband gifted her on Valentines Day, along with a brief explanation of the meaning and challenge behind the key. I was immediatly intrigued and spent some time visiting the company’s website.
I love it when stylish clothes and accessories have a story anda cause behind them, and am enamored by these beautiful key necklaces called “The Giving Keys.”
Here’s an excerpt from The Giving Key’s website explaining the purpose, in a nutshell ::
“The Giving Keys exists to employ those transitioning out of homelessness to engrave recycled keys that get sold and shared around the world. Each key necklace is unique and carries a message like HOPE, STRENGTH, DREAM or COURAGE. When the wearer of the key encounters someone else who needs the message on the key, they give it away and then tell us their story.”
A neat gift idea, isn’t it? The keys range in price between $35-$50 {or more, depending on if you customize the design}, and there are styles for men, too.
