Today's post may leave you scratching your head and questioning my fashion knowledge, but please hear me out. You can wear black and navy together.  Yes, you read correctly.  Navy and black are actually the best of friends and pair beautifully together.  Both colors are classic wardrobe staples and if worn properly, look very sophisticated and polished.

I took a subtle approach for this color combination.  I wore a navy J Crew skirt with my favorite graphic tee and heels for a dressed up yet casual date night look.

Ahhhh….black.  I can hear so many of my clients giving a shout out to their favorite color.  I'm always amazed at how much black a woman can own.  I get it, trust me.  You don't have to think, "does this match?" I do love a simple black outfit.  It hides the sins of last nights chips and salsa washed down with a margarita (or two).  It is slimming and forgiving.  It gives you permission to take a day off from worrying about what to wear.

Be sure to break up an all black look with a pop of color in your shoes or accessories.  You can also add a little pattern with a leopard print or even a fall floral.

If  you feel compelled to keep life simple and plan on buying some updated fall pieces, opt for some pretty details like lace or printed sleeves.

It's Saturday and time for another Edit "Color Crash Course".  This time I'm highlighting one of my new favorites, blush.  Also considered pale pink, this light color, is a great neutral that can be combined into so many outfit options. Pastels are no longer just for spring and are perfectly acceptable to wear well into the fall and winter.  Pair your blush colored items with navy, grey, chambray, stripes, and even prints.  You can also anchor with black for a bold contrast.

Pale colors don't always translate to every skin tone, so if you are worried about looking like death warmed over - choose an item of clothing that will be worn away from your pretty face like this J Crew skirt that is now on sale!
