Anthropologie

breaking the rules

Fashion rules.  We all have them, don't we? Whether it's don't wear white after labor day (wrong), black and brown don't match (wrong again), don't wear crop tops after you have kids (welllllll.....let's hang on to this one, shall we?). Regardless, we ALL have our own versions of "the rules."

One of my personal rules is, if it's fitted on bottom, I will wear a loose, flowy top.  And if it's flowy on bottom, I will wear something more form-fitting on top. (Just kidding. I've had kids. Let's BE FOR REAL. Ain't nobody need to see Sherri in a tight top.)  Besides, when it's approximately 137 degrees outside, I'm gonna go ahead and say that RULES ARE MADE TO BE BROKEN.

Check out some of my fave flowy tops and bottoms above.

Until next time, you little rule-breakers, you,

olive vest + stripes

Y'all.  This vest.  It is THE VEST OF MY DREAMS.  I had a "love at first sight" moment in the middle of anthropologie (don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about).

I may or may not have a lot of those.

Anyway, back to the vest.  When I tell you that it will be the most versatile, the most worn, and probably the most beloved piece in your wardrobe, well, let's just say, it's no exaggeration. You can style this a million different ways, but one of my favorite ways is to throw it on with a striped dress, and boom: you've got yourself a four season outfit.

Which is basically a fashion unicorn.

Until next time,

It's no secret I am a lover of prints and polka dots are hands down a classic favorite.  The simplicity of a dot adds enough interest without being too bold and it's the star of the show without taking on too much of a dominant role.  By treating a polka dot as a basic, you can add pops of color in bags and accessories like I did with this chunky yellow necklace from Anthropologie.

This simple navy and white polka dot cami from J Crew is the perfect summer essential.  Wear under a cardigan or blazer for work and then strip your layers for an evening or weekend look.  It's a great starter piece to create so many different outfits from pieces already in your closets!

If you are saturated in polka dot tops or are scared of sleeveless, here are some other cute options in stores and online.

Happy Shopping!
