swim season

There is no denying that bathing suit season is rapidly approaching…and depending on where you live, it may already be in full-swing! We have been asked by several fans and clients to write a post on “figure flattering swimwear.” This is a topic that I honestly dread writing about simply because there is {unfortunately} not one universally flattering style. SO much depends on height, weight, build, bust size, hip size, skin tone, etc. etc. So, please read the following suggestions as simply that…general suggestions. And don’t hate me if I suggest a suit that isn’t flattering on you personally! 🙂
If you are the mom of little people and going to the pool or beach means you’ll be on your feet more than you will laying around catching rays, the “rash guard” swimsuit may be perfect for you! This style is growing in popularity this year, simply because it is very practical! These suits provide SPF coverage from sunburn on shoulders and back, as well as no-fuss wear while chasing the kiddos. J.Crew has some super cute options, that combine the sporty look with some style. Pair this floral top with a striped bottom {like these} to make it a little more fashion-forward.

J.Crew Hibiscus Floral Short-Sleeve Rash Guard, $58.

A skirted suit or swimdress offers flattery in both the stomach and the thigh area, while still looking cute and flirty!

Tutti Frutti Skirted One-Piece, $128.

Ann Taylor Shadow Twist Front Swim Dress, $118.

If you are busty, a suit with underwire like one of these offers great support. {And J.Crew offers D-cup options, too!}

I’m really liking the “monokini” looks that are everywhere this season. It is a great way to combine the sexiness of a two piece with the coverage of a one-peice. {I tried a few on the other day and was happy with the look…}

Marc by Marc Jacobs Ring Halter Monokini, $151.

Target Fringe Monokini, $29.99.

And you cannot go wrong with ruching around the tummy to help slenderize!

Tommy Bahama Lace Inset One Piece Bandeau, $152.

Target Clean Water Women's One Shoulder Suit, $39.99.

We would LOVE to hear what kind of suits you are loving this season as well as where you are finding them! Please comment and share…or tweet us at @editbylauren.

Stylishly yours,
