I just love it when I find a comfy little dress that I can wear with sneakers. I couldn't have been more thrilled to score this chambray dress! It's $68, super soft and can double as a swim cover-up, making a perfect piece to pack for vacation. It's lightweight and breathable, too, making it ideal for these sweltering Summer days.

On another note, the Nordstrom Annivesary Sale Early Access starts tomorrow! Yipee! If you haven't yet read my post about how to best prepare for the sale, you can find it here.

I'll be at Nordstrom shopping the pre-pre-sale all day today, so be sure to head over to Instagram @laurenlefevre and follow along my Instastories as I try on all my favorites live from the dressing room.

And be sure to head back to the blog bright and early tomorrow morning! I will have my top-10 sale picks up here as soon as the sale goes live at 6am EST!

5 Summer Essentials for the Stylish Mom

Casual Outfit Inspiration, Mom StyleLauren1 Comment

Ready or not, Summer-mode is in full swing!

For all you mamas trying your best to stay stylish, comfy and cool this summer, here are my 5 Summer Wardrobe Essentials guaranteed to do just that!

1. A cute, breezy blouse.

Let's face it, basic tees and tanks will always be high up on the "Summer Essential" list, but sometimes a fun blouse, ruffled tee or off-the-shoulder top is a nice change of pace. I personally love off-the-shoulder and cold-shoulder styles for summer since they can be worn day into night, add a punch of style without trying too hard and are super-flattering on the arms!

This gingham version is just $35, can be tucked in or out and stays in place over the arms. I love the pom-pom details on the sleeves!

2. A perfect-fitting pair of denim shorts/cutoffs.

It's no secret that I am a HUGE fan of denim shorts and cut-offs. In case you missed my recent post all about denim shorts, check it out here.

Just like your trusty pair of blue jeans, a pair of denim shorts will mix and match with just about anything. I almost always size up one size in cutoffs for a perfect fit...because slightly-slouchy cutoffs are more flattering than tight cutoffs!

3. An oversized crossbody bag.

Every woman needs a crossbody bag, and every mama needs an oversized one! It's just so nice to be able to go hands-free while traveling and/or running errands, and to be able to have the space to throw everything you need into one bag!

I have been carrying this big white hobo everywhere that involves the kids this summer! I love that can be worn as a crossbody or a shoulder bag. {It's also available here in more colors.}

4. A comfy pair of platform sandals.

I love that platform sandals are "in" for summer, because they provide height {aka flattering the legs!} along with practicality. Since I personally don't find flats to be the most comfortable type of shoes, platform sandals have become my go-to "mom-shoe." An added bonus is that platform sandals look equally fab paired with shorts, cropped jeans, skirts and casual dresses, and are the perfect shoe to pack for travel.

The sandals I am wearing in this post are honestly some of the MOST COMFORTABLE I have ever worn! They come in six colors and are just $59. They feel like walking on pillows and I cannot recommend them enough!

5. A pop-color pair of earrings.

When all else fails and on those days when it feels like too much effort to get out of a tee-shirt, shorts and flip-flops, a fun pair of pop-color earrings are your best friend! A tasseled statement earring has the magical power to make you look pulled together, even when you feel anything but! And, of course, a colorful earring can be worn day to night and dressed up, too!

One of the greatest blessings in my life is that I call my mom my best friend. My mom is one of my heroes, a woman I look up to and aspire to be more and more like as I grow older and raise my own children.

As long as I can remember, my favorite "mom/daughter date" is a shopping trip and nice lunch out. I have the fondest memories of fun shopping dates all the way back to middle and high school. My mom even let me skip school on my birthday during high school for a fun day out on the town with her!

Now that I have my own children, these dates between my mom and I are further and fewer between, but always just as fun and special.

In honor of Mother's Day, I've teamed up with Sole Society to take my beloved mama on a fun shopping and lunch date, accessorized in the cutest new shoes, bags and jewelry....all by Sole Society, of course!

We started our day with blow outs from Drybar, shopped around one of my favorite places in Atlanta, Avalon, and then enjoyed a lovely patio lunch at Cru.

My mom is sporting Sole Society's neutral Paulina sandals, paired with the cutest striped tote, the Rooney! {This tote also comes in a classy black and white stripe.} These are the perfect go-with-anything accessories to compliment any colorful outfit.  I love her bright Sole Society tassel earrings, too!

Each of our shoes, bags and accessories are under-$100 and make amazing Mother's Day presents! I love that accessories are a gift that can fit any woman, regardless of shape, style or age. Plus, a woman simply cannot have too many shoes or handbags, right?!

Here are some other favorites from the newest Sole Society collection ::

Last but not least, here are five things I have learned from my mom, that I hope to pass on to my own children ::

1. Encouragement and positivity. My mom is one of the most optimistic people I know. It never fails to amaze me how she sees the "glass half full," even when life has thrown curve balls her way. She radiates life, light and joy to all those around her, and being around her challenges me to do the same.

2. The art of celebration. One of my favorite things about my mom is her love of celebrating life and all occasions, both big or small. She has the incredible ability of making even the smallest moments special and memorable. I grew up loving the holiday and birthday traditions my mom created for our family, and cherish them even more now that I am a mom myself. There is nothing sweeter than traditions and celebrations as a child, and I am so thankful my mom has established so many for both me and my children.

3. Gratitude. My mom is quick to be thankful, which is a rare trait these days! Whenever I am down, she is quick to point out all we have to be grateful for, and encourages me count my blessings.

4. Faith. My mom's great faith has kept her standing through some incredibly trying times. I love that she puts her faith first, and relies on it to give her supernatural strength. She has created a legacy of faith that will passed down to future generations.

5. Generousity and compassion. In a world where most simply look out for themselves and their own well-being, my mom is constantly looking for how she can bless others. She is one of the most generous people I know, and gives freely of her time and resources to both her family and to those around her. I am always touched by her ability to love and befriend people who are different than her, and how she shows grace and compassion to the world around her.

Cheers to my amazing mama, and to all you lovely, hard-working moms!

Happy Mother's Day!
